Front Row Start & Double Top 5 for Charlie at Spa

Charlie continued to show his talents with his best showing yet of the 2025 GT4 European Series, narrowly missing out on pole position by an astonishing 0.086s of a second, as he went on to score two fifth place finishes.

Fresh off the back of a confident display at Zandvoort, Charlie and teammate Callum arrived in Belgium with the determination to move themselves up the order, and secure those all important points; as the championship edges ever closer to the seasons half way mark, and with that the summer break.

The third of the six GT4 European Series events was the biggest one yet for Charlie and the team, as the series supported the infamous 24 Hours of Spa weekend, the world biggest GT race which welcomed 128,000 fans across the weekend.

A highlight of the event was the highly regarded ‘Spa Parade’ which saw almost 200 GT3 and GT4 cars descend on the local town (Spa) in the build up to the race weekend itself. It was a hit with the fans, who gathered to take photo’s with the drivers and scoop up their very own limited edition signed posters of the pair.

As the festivities drew to a close, it was time for Charlie and Callum to jump in the car for testing ahead of the weekend. Despite never having driven the circuit in real life before, Charlie went fastest of anyone during practice by a comfortable margin - setting his mark in the sand, following it up with a close third in Pre-Qualifying.

As qualifying came round, along with it came the rain (a lot of rain!) just as Charlie set off for his 20 minute qualifying session. Despite the challenging conditions, and with thousands of spectators watching on Charlie punched in his laps and came close to taking pole position, narrowly missing out by an unbelievable close 0.086s.

With a front row start Race One in the bag, and Callum securing 4th in his qualifying run. The paid where in a strong position to fight for podium positions as the weekend infolded.

Come the opening race of the week, Charlie kicked of proceedings following his strong performance in qualifying. Starting on the outside line, he was edged down to fourth but still right in the fight for the lead throughout his stint. Two safety car periods were frustrating however for Charlie, who wanted to move up the order and secure a podium on one of the biggest race weekends of his career so far. With the arrival of the pitstop window, Charlie handed over to Davies in fourth, who brought the car came home for a season-best fifth place finish.

In Race 2, Callum kicked of proceedings quickly pushing the car to P2 before a heavy accident brought the race to an abrupt pause. The clean-up operation meant that only 30 minutes of racing could be achieved to fit the schedule, with Charlie jumping in the car as their car ran in 3rd.

Charlie instantly went into battle with the BMW of Ricardo Van Der Ende, almost managing to pass the Dutchman around the outside at Les Combes before being forced to take to the run-off area and slot in behind. He continued the chase all race long, ultimately crossing the line in fifth - securing a crucial points hall which see’s the #812 car move up to 9th in the overall standings, with three more race weekends to go.

Charlie said: "A really good weekend for us at Spa. We were definitely I'd say one of the quickest out there, and we were on it from the word go. I managed to top a session in practice, and then thought we had a good chance in Qualifying even in the conditions we had to deal with.

"I would have loved to have been on that pole position! But it was still a great result, and I'm sure that we'll have more chances to get that in the future. We were careful at the start as it's always going to be a bit messy with so many cars going into La Source and then Eau Rouge, but I would really have liked more green flag running in the car to try and make a difference in that first stint. We both did a solid job, and we can't complain too much with two good finishes. We're closing in on those podiums and wins now."

Charlie is next in action at Misano on the 18-20 July, where GT4 Europe will race alongside GT World Challenge Sprint Series.

Both races can be streamed live at GT World on YouTube. Re-live the action from both races in Belgium below.
